Surrey must wait to see if they will reach the One-Day Cup knockout stages after their game at Gloucestershire was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Surrey, third in the South Group coming into the game, would have guaranteed qualification with a win.
They could miss out on progressing from their group if Sussex beat Hampshire.
Gloucestershire, needing to beat Surrey by a large margin and requiring a Sussex defeat, saw their slim hopes of qualification ended.
Surrey captain Gareth Batty told BBC Radio London:
“It was 100% the right decision [to call the game off], the water’s coming over your shoes out there.
“There’s nothing you can do, you just move on to the next game.
“We’re just waiting now, and if Sussex are getting the weather that we’re getting, they’ve got no chance.”
Report to follow at end of match.
