Champions Southern Vipers thrashed Western Storm by nine wickets in the women’s Super League opening game.
In a repeat of last year’s final, Vipers chased a target of 71 with 11 overs to spare at the Ageas Bowl.
England captain Heather Knight lasted just three balls as she was bowled for one by slow left-armer Linsey Smith as Western Storm slumped to 70 all out.
New Zealand captain Suzie Bates added to her earlier two wickets with an unbeaten 47 in the Vipers’ run-chase.
Vipers, led by former England captain Charlotte Edwards, pick up a bonus point for their emphatic victory.
Edwards, 37, caught West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor and ran out Sophie Luff with a direct hit in a dominant display by her side.
Storm seamer Holly Huddleston conceded 34 runs in one over as the New Zealander was punished off four no-balls in a nightmare start for last year’s runners-up.
