2017 Preakness picks: Prediction from expert who nailed ninth straight Derby
Everyone has an opinion on the Preakness. It’s one of the most wagered-upon races in the world each year.
Before you bet Saturday’s Run for the Black-Eyed Susans at Pimlico, you’ll want to hear what Jody Demling has to say.
A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling comes into the 142nd edition of the Preakness fresh off a Derby win that continued a mind-blowing streak: For the ninth year in a row, he nailed the Oaks-Derby double at Churchill Downs.
Demling was all over Always Dreaming before the eventual Derby winner even emerged as the favorite. Even when Always Dreaming was going off at 6/1, Demling said he was “the best horse on the grounds.”
Demling also warned us that Classic Empire, the early favorite, would finish out of the money… and he was exactly right. Anyone who didn’t listen to his advice went home empty-handed.
Following Wednesday’s post draw, Demling finalized his Preakness picks and listed where he believes all 10 horses will finish. He has called eight of the last 12 Preakness winners, so you’ll want to hear who he thinks wins.
He’s not high on Looking at Lee, whose sire won the 2009 Preakness.
Looking at Lee is the third-biggest favorite at 10/1 and just finished third in the Derby, but don’t expect him to make the money on Saturday.
He’s also calling for a huge underdog to show, which would mean a big payday for bettors.
Will Always Dreaming win the second leg of the Triple Crown? And what huge underdog does Demling think makes the top three? Visit SportsLine now to see Demling’s pick to win the Preakness and find out.
