Jackson Page: 15-year old schoolboy has progressed to third round of Welsh Open
A 15-year-old Welsh schoolboy is into the third round of the Welsh Open snooker after knocking out a player ranked number 78 in the world.
Teenager Jackson Page from Ebbw Vale has now won successive matches in his first professional tournament, having beaten John Astley 4-3 in Cardiff.
Page trailed Jason Weston 3-1 in round one, but still eliminated the world number 123 in a tense deciding frame.
The youngster held his nerve superbly to win with a break of 36.
Page attends Ebbw Fawr Learning Community in Blaenau Gwent and while his focus is on competing in Cardiff, he will head to Cyprus in March where the European Under-18, Under-21 and men’s championships take place.
He has won £2,500 for reaching the second round and earned another £1,000 for progressing to the third round.
Another win to reach the last 16 would earn Page £6,000.
He will play the winner of the second round match between world number four Judd Trump and Alex Borg next.
