Scottish Open: John Higgins beats Jack Lisowski to reach second round
John Higgins put his surprise UK Championship loss to Mark King behind him to beat Jack Lisowski 4-1 in the Scottish Open first round.
A fluked brown helped Lisowski, ranked 38, take the opener but Higgins, beaten in the final last year by Marco Fu, reeled off four frames to progress.
Fellow Scots Chris Totten, who beat Sam Baird 4-1, and Ross Vallance, who beat Robert Carlisle 4-2, are also through.
Defending champion Fu opens his title defence against Welshman Duane Jones.
Four Chinese players – Yu De Lu, Fang Xiongman, Zhou Yuelong and Xiao Guodong – all progressed on Monday, while English veteran Mike Dunn, 46, whitewashed Adam Duffy 4-0.
Northern Irishman Gerard Greene, a 4-2 winner over Zhao Xintong, is also through, while Stuart Carrington beat 16-year-old Jackson Page 4-1.
World number three Judd Trump and three more Scots – Graeme Dott, Stephen Maguire and Scott Donaldson – are also in first-round action later on Monday.
Newly crowned UK champion Ronnie O’Sullivan begins his campaign against Michael Georgiou on Tuesday at 13:00 GMT.
